The City of Glenn Heights has allocated 16 million dollars in capital to invest in infrastructure improvements. The repaving and refinishing of Hampton Road in early 2019 led the first wave of improvements. Repair work totaling XX in conjunction with Dallas County for Uhl Rd. began in September of 2019 and will conclude in XX, making it safer and smoother for residents to access their homes. Upon completion of the Uhl Road project, Bear Creek Road will be repaired, and Ovilla Road/ FM 664 will reach completion within the next year. All major thoroughfares and access roads within the City limits will receive critical improvements with dollars allocated within the 2019-2020 budget.
A total of 2.4 million dollars has been allocated in the 2019-2020 budget to improve one of the most established neighborhoods in the city—the Mesas—with street and water line improvements.
In addition to these projects, in January of 2020, a new Senior Center facility will open that will specialize in providing services to senior residents aged 55 and older. The groundbreaking for both the Senior Center and new City Center facilities occurred on September 16, 2019, and was funded through restricted funds approved through the 2015 and 2016 Bond package. The City Center facilities, which will include a City Hall, Recreation Center and Public Safety building, will be completed in 2021.
