The 2019-2020 budget includes funding to support new programming that will enhance resident’s community engagement experiences, including adding staff to support assistance with social services, encouraging neighborhood improvement and enhancing the City’s premiere event, the Family Festival.
A resident services position, created to assist community members through coordination and connection to national, state and local resources was approved by the City Council on September 3, 2019. This full-time position should be filled by mid-October and will eventually be housed in the Senior Center. Resources associated with this service are available to all City of Glenn Heights tax payers.
In July 2019, The Love Your Block program, a reimbursable mini-grant of $500, was debuted to encourage neighborhoods to organize neighborhood events and complete small projects that build stronger relationships and improve neighborhoods. This program will continue to be funded in the 2019-2020 budget and if utilized properly, will help to solve for code violations and encourage beautification efforts.
Financial resources have also been allocated to assist with the branding and marketing efforts for the City. As Glenn Heights grows and continues to be a recognizable brand within the DFW metroplex, a consultant firm will work with City Council and Community Engagement staff to craft a unified yet unique message and presence for the community.
