BIOGRAPHY

Councilmember Shaunte L. Allen was re-elected to the Glenn Heights City Council on November 4, 2025. With a career spanning over two decades, Councilmember Allen is a distinguished educator, college professor, and ed-tech trainer. She is the founder of Allen Learnimy LLC, a specialized training firm established in 2021 that helps business close basic skills gaps through better instructional design and sensory-based learning. 

Councilmember Allen's commitment to public service began in high school while feeding the homeless through church initiatives. Today, she translates that passion into policy. She is a tireless advocate for economic growth that improves the daily lives of Glenn Heights residents. Her work focuses on infrastructure, literacy, and community engagement. 

Throughout her tenure, she has held numerous leadership roles, including:

  • Regional Leadership: Glenn Height Representative for the Collective Impact Network and Chairperson for the 2020 Census.
  • Education Advocacy: Co-founder of Read Across DeSoto and Genn Heights and member of the Superintendent Advisory Council for DeSoto ISD.
  • Civil Right & Community: Communication Chair for the Tri-Cities NAACP and Board Member for Habitat for Humanity. 
  • Municipal Governance: Scholarship Chair for the Texas Association of Black City Council Member and Leadership Committee Member for the Texas Working Families Party. 

Her vision for Glenn Heights is one of the "smart growth" ensuring that as the city expands, it maintains a high quality of life, supports small businesses, and provides robust resources for the next generation of leaders. 

A proud North Texas native, Councilmember Allen was raised in Oak Cliff and is a graduate of W.W. Samuell High School. She is deeply invested in the local community as a member of the Red Oak Area Chamber of Commerce and her local PTA. When she is not serving the city or her students, she pursues her passion for the arts.

Her academic background is rooted in Texas excellence. She earned a Master of Education in Secondary Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts in Literary Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas. A former Department Chair and Curriculum Director, she has been twice recognized in "Who's Who in Community Colleges". Before entering higher education and business leadership, she served as a certified educator in Garland ISD, focusing on English Language Arts and English as a Second Language.
