About the City Council
The governing and lawmaking body of the City of Glenn Heights shall consist of a Mayor and 6 Council Members, and said body shall be known as the City Council of the City of Glenn Heights. The members of the City Council shall be the only elective officers of the City and shall run for office by place and be elected from the City at large for a term of 3 years, or until their successors are duly elected and qualified.

Type of Government
Glenn Heights is a home rule city with a Council-Manager type government and is governed by the City of Glenn Heights Home Rule Charter (PDF). This Charter is dedicated to the citizens of the City of Glenn Heights, Texas and to ensure such powers, rights, and duties as are herein provided and to encourage the citizens' participation in the democratic government for proper and efficient progress of our city. To this end we ordain this home rule charter as prescribed by law and with the guidance of God.
