Geographic Features
Glenn Heights Texas is located 20 miles south of downtown Dallas on Interstate Highway 35E. The city has approximately 1.5 miles of Interstate Highway road frontage with the majority of this frontage undeveloped. The entire city lies West of the Interstate and shares common borders with the following areas and municipalities:
- Cedar Hill
- DeSoto
- Lancaster
- Oak Leaf
- Ovilla
- Red Oak
- Un-Incorporated Areas of Ellis County
The northern half of the city is located in Dallas County and the southern half is located in Ellis County.
Master Plan
A Master Plan has been developed that allows for creativity and flexibility while maintaining an atmosphere suitable for a good quality of life. Current land use, zoning ordinances, and building restrictions require the development of mostly single family homes in the city with minimum size and materials requirements.
