The City of Glenn Heights’ school system is divided into two sections. The Dallas County portion is served by the Desoto Independent School District, zoned to either Frank D. Moates Elementary School (west of Uhl Road) or Woodridge Elementary School (east of Uhl Road), McCowan Middle School, and DeSoto High School. The Ellis County portion is served by Red Oak Independent School District, zoned to Donald T. Shields Elementary School, Red Oak Intermediate School, Red Oak Junior High School, and Red Oak High School.
With a current enrollment just over 9,200 students, DeSoto Independent School District is a small, suburban district 15 miles south of Dallas in north Texas. The 23-square-mile district serves students in DeSoto, Glenn Heights, and Ovilla with 12 campuses.

Life School began in 1998 to serve students and families in southern Dallas. It is through the vision of the Founder, Dr. Tom Wilson, that Life School opened its doors with 15 faculty and staff members serving 266 students at the Oak Cliff campus. Today, Life School has grown to six campuses serving several thousand students.
Life School seeks to develop leaders with the necessary skills to achieve success in the 21st century. Through character training, strong academics and parent involvement Life School will be successful in fulfilling its mission.

Red Oak Independent School District is a growing school district of unlimited potential. Located adjacent to Dallas yet just outside the congestion of the big city life, Red Oak offers the advantages of suburban living with nearby metropolitan conveniences of shopping, entertainment, and other extras. The community offers a comfortable atmosphere perfectly suited for family enjoyment. Red Oak Independent School District consists of 8 schools serving approximately 5,800 students and 850 employees.
